Ian Perez serves as Vice President and Geotechnical Engineering Manager for Raba Kistner, Inc.’s San Antonio and New Braunfels offices. Ian started his career with Raba Kistner in 2001 as an intern and with Raba Kistner’s support, earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Geotechnical engineering from Texas A&M University. After graduating, Ian moved to San Antonio where he earned his Professional Engineering License; started engaging in TSPE and ASCE; spoke to K-12 STEM students about becoming engineers; and mentored High School students for the O’Connor ISM program. Ian served on the TSPE Board for almost 10 years, was recognized as the Young Engineer of the Year in 2012, served as President in 2015; and currently serves as the Bexar Chapter’s State Director.
In 2012, Ian and his new bride Jocelyn moved to New Braunfels where he opened a new office for Raba Kistner to serve the IH-35 corridor between Austin and San Antonio. Ian quickly engaged in the New Braunfels community and served as President, as Chair, or in leadership positions in numerous civic and non-profit organizations and has led multiple successful local campaigns for school and city bonds and local officials. Ian was recognized as A Rising Star “40 under 40,” a Pillar in the Community, twice as a Rotarian of the Year, twice as a Chamber Chair of the Board recipient, and was selected to serve as a Klein Opa in the Wurstfest Association. During his career with Raba Kistner, Ian has been involved in over 1,300 geotechnical projects in Texas. Some of the more iconic projects include the Convention Center Hotel, The Forum, The Rim, Westover Hills, the Comal County Jail, the Veramendi and Mayfair Master Planned Developments, the Toyota Plant, The Shops at La Cantera, UTSA Campus, USAA, the Pearl Redevelopment, SH-130, and every major highway in the region including IH-35, IH-37, Loop 410, Loop 1604, and IH-10. In his current role, Ian manages the geotechnical operations in the San Antonio and New Braunfels offices and is responsible for about 20 personnel include engineers, geologists, field and laboratory technicians, and administrative support. Ian and Jocelyn have two children, Leila (8) and Nicholas (7). In the little free time they have, they enjoy traveling, working on house projects, hanging out at Wurstfest, and running around to all of the kids’ sporting events. |
